Born in Olomouc in 1958, since 1969 he has lived in Prague.

The artist's work is concerned primarily with abstract painting, Which he sees as having independant creative value. Unlike art based on observation and stylization of reality, he builds his own instinctive world. He starts with essential forms (forms which have not found their reality, possibilities which have not been transferred into matter). In working with these forms he often finds they pass into symbols, which then tie into reality. He takes a picture as a space for creative speculation.

Besides oil painting color pencils drawings are another favourite technique.

His present work stands in illustrations to the sentences taken from his favourite writer Jorge Luis Borges.

Since 1991 he has exhibited in Prague, Munich, Passau and Kiel.
